Ghana

Ghana, a nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, is known for diverse wildlife, old forts and secluded beaches, such as at Busua. Coastal towns Elmina and Cape Coast contain posubans (native shrines), colonial buildings and castles-turned-museums that serve as testimonials to the slave trade. North of Cape Coast, vast Kakum National Park has a treetop-canopy walkway over the rainforest.

Ghana is socio-economically divided into two: the richer south and the poorer north. Southern Ghana is dominated by the forest belt from the east to the West whiles northern Ghana is mainly of Savannah grassland. The divide has created a chain of socio-economic problems where people from the north are always migrating down south or even risk the perilous journey across the Mediterranean sea for non existing jobs.

In our own small way, we are seeking to help people in rural northern Ghana recognize opportunities available to them in their own communities to better their own lives! MeDRO through its socio-economic interventions is changing lives of individuals, families and impacting communities for the better.
